TV Show: Baek Jong Won Top 3 Chef King (2015 - ongoing)

Waaaahhh...really...this TV Show makes me drool EVERY. FRICKIN. TIME. Not good, bro. Not good. Hahaha.

Baek Jong Won is a famous chef in Korea. He often shows up in a lot of TV shows. He also has a lot of restaurants spread out there. This time he has a new TV show that just started in the middle of 2015. This show aired by SBS shows us the journey of Baek Jong Won travel around Korea to find good and tasty restaurants related to each week's theme. So for example, if this week theme is Samgyeopsal aka pork belly, then Baek Jong Wong will visit restaurants which specialty is Samgyeopsal. He will review the food. Then, out of all, he will choose 3 restaurant owners/chefs to come to the studio to cook for the host and the audiences.

In the studio, Baek Jong Won is accompanied by two other co-hosts, which are Lee Hwi Jae and Kim Joon Hyun. Both are comedians but Joon Hyun is famous for his great ability to eat. In episode 22, there's another addition to the host. They take Hani from EXID to become the new co-host.

Not only regular audiences, each week the show will invite some celebrities to be part of the audience. You know, to sweeten the screen. Haha.

What fun is nit all the audience can taste the food made by the Top 3 invited owners/chefs. The hosts are divided into 3 colors -  blue, red, and yellow - so do the audiences.  This color represents which color will have the opportunity to taste the food.  By the end of the show, they will draw a ball from a blind box. So if the drawn ball is yellow, only host and audiences with yellow color can taste the food.

Comment:
This show is really torturing...in a very good way. Meaning that you cannot watch this show on an empty stomach. It will hurt you. Haha.

Before the 3 chefs are coming to the studio to cook, the host and audiences will see the travel video of Baek Jong Won looking for a good restaurant. Because they can only see it from the screen, they feel like being tortured slowly. The visual of the food is too much for your eyes and can give you shock therapy. Baek Jong Won really knows how to eat tastefully too.

It's funny to see the audiences' reaction when they see the video. Some are having a mental breakdown, some is drooling or swallowing their saliva too much, some are opening their mouths widely unconsciously...so many reactions. Sometimes I do the same too. Luckily there's no one around me to see me like that.

Hani is a co-host but rarely shows up, maybe because of the busy schedule and a health problem she has. Quite many times she's being replaced by another idol. I think the reason why she's hired is because she's good at eating. Hani doesn't really care about her idol image when it comes to food. She's so free-spirited about that. Well, everyone in this show really really good at eating. The temporal replacements of Hani also know how to eat tastefully and appealingly. And they also don't care about their image when they come to this show.

Sometimes there are a few themes being repeated. Maybe because there are so many good restaurants with good food.

I like this show. They really know how to make our appetite rising instantly. Since it's making people more hungry when watching it, they have to change the airing time. It's aired at night before. Now they change it to the afternoon. If they didn't change it, they can be a source of people obesity problem since people will buy food during the late night. Haha.

Ps: I'm still amazed by his ability to eat. Still, no one can beat this guy.

[UPDATE:]
  • Final episode with Hani as co-host is on episode 51
  • Starts from episode 52, the concept of the show is slightly different. There is no more life audience in the studio. No more divided into 3 colors. The co-host is changed into Soyou from SISTAR. (I'm kinda happy to see her cause I know that she can eat well)
  • Episode 61 becomes Lee Hwi Jae and Soyou's last episode for the show. (It's kinda sad to see Hwi Jae leaves and Soyou only in the show for 9 eps. What the...? Maybe because of a busy schedule. That's too bad)
  • Starting from episode 62, the co-host change again. Now the show has Lee Si Young as the new line up.
  • Kim Ji Min still has a fixed appearance on the show along with Kim Hwan
